Shaikh Zayed Medical Complex (SZMC) Lahore was founded in 1986. From the beginning, it has maintained its reputation as one of the most prestigious postgraduate medical training institutions in Pakistan. Through the years it has developed into a mega tertiary health care center with millions of patients having received exemplary patient care and treatment. SZMC now encompasses 6 institutes; Shaikh Zayed Hospital (SZH), National Health Research Complex(NHRC), National Institute of Kidney Diseases(NIKD), Shaikh Zayed Postgraduate Medical Institute(SZPGMI), Shaikha Fatima Institute of Nursing And Health Sciences(SFINHS) & Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Medical and Dental College(SKZMDC). Proceedings is the official journal of the Complex since its inception, endorsed by the Pakistan Medical Commission, and now in its 38th year of publication. In 2015 the journal was placed online as an open access digital repository of health research conducted over the past three past decades, present and future within Pakistan and abroad.
