Abstract
Amr bi al-Ma'ruf wa Nahi an al-Munkar is a well known terminology in Islamic system.The obligation  of Amr bi al-Ma'ruf wa Nahi an al-Munkar is not necessary for a particular time, a particular environment and a particular era, but in  its nature it cannot be neglected at any time. Quranic verses and hadiths regarding Amr bi al-Ma'ruf wa Nahi an al-Munkar generally requires that it is important in every era and situation. The Islamic jurists, while proving its necessity, have also explained the conditions of implementations of Amr bi al-Ma'ruf wa Nahi an al-Munkar. Some jurists have agreed on these terms and others have disagreed on some of them. Imam al-Ghazali has described a total of five conditions for it in AhyaUlum al-Din. These conditions have been described by Imam Ghazali for accountability, and Nahi-an-ul-Mankar is also commonly referred to as the word of accountability. Accountability includes both commandments and prohibitions, but accountability is not total, but is a part of the comprehensive term of commandment of good and forbidding evil doing.This paper mainly discusses the thoughts of Imam Ghazali on Al- hasba  fil Islam described as  the concept of accountability in Islam.
