Abstract

The model of distributed leadership corresponds to a system where responsibilities are shared by the people with relevant skills instead of burdening one person on administrative post. Major purpose of this research was to explore the prevalence of distributed Leadership as practiced in the context of secondary schools of Punjab. Four hundred secondary school teachers were randomly selected from secondary schools of Lahore city. A self- developed questionnaire was used to explore perception of the teachers about prevalence of distributed leadership in their schools. The instrument consisted on thirty-five statements and seven factors of distributed leadership. Findings revealed that distributed leadership was more prevalent in terms of responsibility and accountability, initiative, and decision making, while, factors of school culture and structure, collaboration and vision, and values and beliefs were less perceived by the teachers. Further, female secondary school teachers perceive factors of collaboration and cooperation, values and beliefs and initiates as more prevalent in their schools.
