Abstract
This research paper aims to examine the contributions of Maulana Syed Abul A'la Maududi (RA) regarding the authority (Hujjat) of Hadith in Islamic jurisprudence. Maududi, a renowned Islamic scholar and thinker, played a pivotal role in revitalizing the understanding and application of Hadith in the modern context. He emphasized the necessity of Hadith alongside the Quran for a comprehensive understanding of Islamic teachings, law, and ethics. This paper delves into his views on the reliability and authenticity of Hadith, highlighting his critical approach to the compilation and interpretation of Hadith literature. It also explores how Maududi addressed the challenges posed by modernity to the traditional understanding of Hadith, advocating for its essential role in forming an Islamic state and society. Through a detailed analysis of his works, this study seeks to provide a deeper insight into Maulana Maududi’s intellectual efforts to establish the authority of Hadith as a fundamental source of Islamic law and guidance.
